Wine Down after a Hard Day

We all love a delicious glass of wine whether it’s been a long day at work, a party or even just a friendly gathering or dinner. With so many types of wine from Chardonnay, Merlot and Sauvignon-Blanc to Shiraz and Rosé, there is a wine for everyone based on whether you want a tart, strong flavour or a sweeter, fruity flavour. As with most alcohol, while even wine in excess quantities can be harmful to your health, researchers have found that a good amount per day is quite healthy for your body.

There are numerous free radicals that lurk around in our body and wine helps fight these radicals that cause terrible diseases such as cancer. We always say prevention is better than cure so your daily glass of wine to unwind after a long day is, in fact, keeping you healthier than you would think. Contradictory to popular belief, white wine has been known to have the equivalent or even more antioxidants in comparison to red wine.

Increases Bone Density

The older we get the more brittle our bones get. As a child we were told to have a glass of milk but as the years go by, it’s probably time for a more age appropriate upgrade. Wine, especially red wine, contains high levels of silicon which help in increasing your bone density while also reducing the chance of osteoporosis. An additional bonus is that helps you doze off at night very similar to a warm glass of milk.

Boosts Your Immunity

While taking your daily vitamins and delicious veggies and greens is always healthy, some wine added to that mix will give your entire immune system a boost. It will help you battle against the standard sicknesses and make you feel better. Please note that drinking an entire bottle in one sitting, as tempting as it sounds, does not increase the immune system further. In moderation however, it will help you be healthy while enjoying your guilty pleasures. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, add some wine to it and you may even keep him away for a lot longer.
