If you just started blogging but you have no clue how to monetize your blog or you’ve been blogging for a while now and would like to finally earn from writing your content — it’s time to consider your monetizing options. You’ve probably googled the options, and the first thing that popped up were ads as a blog monetization option, but ads are just the tip of the iceberg.

In this article, I’ll show you the ultimate list of all the ways you can monetize your blog in ANY NICHE and with ANY traffic amount. Yes, in any possible niche out there.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that all the methods will work for you, you’ll probably have to make adjustments and leave some blog monetization options aside, but this list should serve to help you think outside the box when it comes to your blog.

I’ll also cover the ways you can monetize yourself — yes, yourself — as a blogger/influencer. After all, you’re the person behind your blog, meaning that you’re the one with the knowledge that you’re using. And knowledge is the most important part of any business.

Without further ado, this is the ULTIMATE LIST of ways to monetize your blog and yourself.

Serving ads for ad providers is a blog monetization method where you register at an ad provider platform, select or make the ads you want to show, copy-paste a certain code on your blog’s pages and the ads appear.

As I mentioned before, ad revenue is the first thing that pops up when you google blog monetization options. But for ad revenue, you’ll need a bit bigger influx of traffic. What I use is Google Adsense and MediaNet. To set up Google Adsense you’ll want to have some amount of content on your blog before you apply and try multiple times if they deny your website. You’ll also want to avoid some general no-nos, such as hiding the text on the pages of your blog or scraping content from other websites.

It took two attempts for Google to accept Inspiration Wise, while Media Net did it instantly. Media Net is one of the best ad providers out there, with bigger RPM than Google. There are others, such as Propeller Ads. Almost all ad providers will demand that you have ads.txt file on your website so that you could serve ads. If you have a bigger influx of traffic, you can go to Mediavine. Propeller Ads, Media Net, and Google have accepted me at the very beginning when I had almost 0 traffic on my blog.

Ah, the famous affiliate networks. The golden grail of blogging. In affiliate marketing, you’re promoting the products listed on the affiliate network and earn for every purchase or registration that happens via your link. Here you’ll want to think about what affiliate networks you can use for your niche. Since I’m in the literature niche (although I expanded niches recently) I instantly registered with Book Depository and was accepted quickly. I avoided Amazon because my bank account can’t be set for payments at the moment.

Later I went for ShareASale, CJ, ClickBank (where I plan to sell my book marketing course later as a merchant), and BeRush — SEMRUSH’s affiliate network. (I have yet to utilize CJ affiliates, their back end isn’t that straightforward to use)

On ShareASale, I registered to promote various merchants. ShareASale is a much easier affiliate platform to use for beginners and the registration process is simple. There are different programs that you can join in, depending on your niche. I’ve earned a bunch through ShareASale, especially because the affiliate merchants send out emails with the option to get bonus payments for a certain way of promotion.

You can also register as a merchant of ShareASale, and promote your online store via other affiliate bloggers. Have in mind that many affiliate networks demand a fee if you’ll register as a merchant.

Banner placement is a blog monetization method where you sell a spot on your blog — most commonly the homepage, but it can be in-text also.

It differs from ad providers in a way that you’ll need to approach the target on your own and offer your ad placement. Still, earnings are way higher than if Google Ad takes up that spot. You can also use banner placement to promote yourself or your books, by making a banner and linking it to your content.

BONUS if you’re a writer and write short stories or poems, you can think about submitting your written work to some competitions. Google is your friend here since I could hardly list all of them here.

You can earn decent money by selling books (on your website and platforms like Amazon). Piece of advice — never limit yourself to one platform only. By posting books on your blog or website you’ll earn most of the cash since no one is taking the fees, and by publishing on platforms you get exposure.

NOTE — You’ll want to have an SSL on your website/blog if you wish to sell there, you don’t want to risk peoples’ info to fall in the wrong hands. How to know if you have SSL? If you see a little lock next to your URL in Google, you’re good to go.

Getting sponsorships is a dream come true for many bloggers, but I have a feeling that it’s usually the lifestyle blogs that get it. I’ve been approached by sponsors a few times now, and then Coronavirus hit so no one got back to me. Sponsorships can differ — product reviews, link insertions, and company promotion — there’s a variety for various niches.

BONUS — Twitter hashtag bloggerswanted can get you some sponsorships too.

Depending on your niche, you might want to monetize your blog by selling your merchandise. It can be anything, from cups to hoodies and shirts. This is a great monetization method for bloggers and influencers that deal with makeup and similar products.

You can sell your merch on platforms like Etsy or Teespring.

If you have the time, you can create an online course that will sell via some of the e-learning platforms, such as Udemy or Skillshare, OR even on affiliate networks if you decide to register as a merchant.

You’ll need a mic, planned program for the lessons, and lots of time to record and edit the content.

Different e-learning platforms are suitable for different niches. Some bloggers will prefer the engagement of their students while others will like to record and post content, available at any time, from anywhere.

Many marketers will tell you that mailing lists are definitely not dead. I, on the other side, despise mailing lists and literally have one subscriber. Why? I find those emails to be ultimately spammy. I hate writing them and sending them and I hate begging visitors to subscribe because I can’t stand all the spam that I’m getting when I sub to something. (I rarely do though)

To make things clear — I do have a sub option, just in case people wish to do so. But writing that type of spammy content obviously can’t be avoided if I wish to promote something, so I’d rather make a blog post than send out emails.

Still, to each their own and if you have a lovely list of subscribers, utilize them to the best of your knowledge, but please don’t overflood their inboxes. There are a lot of mailing options, such as Mailchimp, that you can use to create lovely emails.

If you’re in a niche that can offer some sort of online service, you may want to think about allowing monthly memberships on your website.

Think outside the box for this one, since you’ll need to have something very interesting to offer to your visitors. Again, the amounts don’t need to be astronomical — you can either go for $2 for 1000 people or $500 for 2 visitors. The price will most likely depend on your niche.

If you decided that YT will be one of the options for promoting your blog, you might as well consider getting enough subscribers and views to enable the Join button on your channel.

As an extension of your website or blog, an Android and iOS app can serve you for an additional monetization option. I’m currently working on mine and it will be a simple quotes/picture app that should motivate and inspire you. But that fits my blog and my niche. Think about what would fit yours? If you’re in the health industry, you could make a chatbot for mental health or a diagnostic app.

Another blog monetization option — or should I say a ‘you’ monetization option — is one on one consultation. It’s similar to course creation, only you’ll be working with one person.

If you’re an industry expert, your prices, and thus earnings, can go through the roof!

Don’t be afraid to ask for donations, especially if your website has your art on it or anything you believe is of value to your audience. You don’t have to ask for a lot of money, just something symbolic to help you with hosting expenses or similar. I recently created a Ko-Fi page where you can find all sorts of my work, both blogging and writing-related. It doesn’t hurt, right?

Back on the industry expert stuff — you can also charge for the speech on live events. For this, you might need more connections in the real world, but the cash can be worth it. Explore your local events and see if there’s anything where you can put your name on the list, even if you speak for free for the first couple of times.

BONUS — if you’re an ambassador for a company, you can use the time and promote it too!

Being an ambassador means that in a way you must combine your interests with the interests of a brand or a company that set you up in that role. It may not be easy, as ambassadors can travel frequently, but the cash for ambassador role is seriously good if you’re dealing with a seriously famous brand.

I know that the whole idea of a blog is to be able to build an empire around it. But sometimes you’ll need to take smaller steps and continue working for someone while making your dream come true.

A new way to make money on your site are paid newsletters, where visitors can pay a monthly or annual fee to get content from your site delivered directly to their inboxes.
