Have you ever had something snap? Like splintering wood in slow-motion, erupting fragments that pepper and maim; blood splattering, wounds busting open and nothing you can do about it?

Have you ever had something break? Like the spraying of shattered glass, the shards like innumerable droplets of deadly water, hard edges slicing and spilling your life before your eyes?

Have you ever only had your dreams? Everything else ripped through your seams, leaving you an empty husk that quivers in agony.

Have you ever been left this empty, only ever asking why as teardrops spill forth from your eyes? Your pain left to fill you like a deluge of acid, burning your very being and leaving your nerves numb.

Have you ever given so much that you’re exhausted? Your soul is tired, and any soothing antidote is denied to you as if you’re unworthy. Your days flowing together in a fog, trying to find meaning in the monotony. It’s there, but there’s no soul to share it with.

Have you ever dreamt of more? Wishing that those who’d said they cared had proven it with their presence? Have you ever dreamt of more? Like the simple things that made you flutter and made you want to sing?

Have you ever had something snap?
